Valerian capsule is a special preparation of standardized extract of Valerian root. Valerian is a perennial herb, ranging from 2-5 feet in height, native to Eurasia and North America. Valerian acts as centrally depressive, sedative, tranquilizer, anxiolytic, antioxidant, spasmolytic, analgesic, anti-inflammatory and muscle relaxant. Valerian is contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to the plant. No significant side effect has been observed in therapeutic dosage. Over dosage may cause headache, depression, nausea, lethargy, uneasiness, bradycardia, arrhythmias and decrease intestinal motility.
